Artur Wilczynski
&
Associate Professor, Norwegian Institute for Defence Studies
Paal Sigurd Hilde
~
Tuesday 15th of November, 11:30-13:00

In 2016, the Canadian government began developing a new defence policy to ensure that Canada is able to confront new threats and challenges of the future. Through the Warsaw Summit, Canada is also committed to serve as the framework nation for a NATO battalion-sized battlegroup stationed in Latvia.

The review will discuss renewing Canada’s commitment to United Nations peace operations, maintaining strong commitments to continental defence and NATO, and renewing focus on the surveillance and control of Canadian territory.

Canada’s Ambassador to Norway H.E. Artur Wilczynski will discuss the defence review process and offer a strategic overview of Canada’s defence and national security outlook for the years ahead.

Associate Professor at the Norwegian Institute for Defence Studies, Paal Sigurd Hilde, will comment on the ambassador’s introduction by comparing and contrasting Canadian and Norwegian perspectives on security and defence both historically and today, with an emphasis on the role of NATO and security in the Arctic.

We welcome you to an interesting discussion!

Please RSVP by Monday the 14th of November to seminar@dnak.org
