Welcome to the official webpage of the Leangkollen Security Conference 2019

Leangkollen Security Conference took place on February 4th-5th.

The entire conference was streamed. Watch it here!

This year's conference focused on the challenges facing the multilateral order and transatlantic relations, and how the current revolution in civil-military technologies is changing the power dynamics on the international stage. Will a U.S.-led NATO remain a security anchor for Europe? What are the alternatives to the liberal world order? How can we defend democracy and liberal values in the digital age? How do we understand the interplay between technology and geopolitics? How do we organize our defence in the digital age and understand the changing character of war, and the drivers of technological development? These, and other timely questions, was discussed during the two-day conference.

The conference was opened in the Norwegian Nobel Institute by the Deputy Secretary General of NATO, Rose Gottemoeller, Norway's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ine Eriksen Søreide, and Nonresident Senior Fellow at Atlantic Council, August Cole. Other speakers which attended the conference was Editor-in-Chief of Russia in Global Affairs, Fyodor Lukyanov, Columnist at The Diplomat and Member of the National Committee on U.S.-China Relations, Mercy A. Kuo, and Visiting Fellow at the Brookings Institution, James Kirchick.
