All activities of the Committee are done by a permanent full-time employed secretariat consisting of the Secretary General and three advisers. The Committee is chaired by a board, with the former Minister of Defence, Anne-Grete Strøm-Erichsen, as Chair.

Kate Hansen Bundt (b. 1962)
Secretary General of the Norwegian Atlantic Committee since 1. April 2010

Bundt is a political scientist from the University of Oslo with additional studies from the Humboldt University in Berlin. Bundt was a fellow at the Norwegian Institute of International Affairs (NUPI) from 1990-1993, Research Director at “Europa-programmet”, an Oslo-based think tank, from 1993-2006, and worked as an independent researcher, lecturer, writer, and commentator of European affairs from 2006. In 2009 she graduated from the executive course at the Norwegian Defence University College.

She has been a member of several Government appointed review committees. From 2014-2015 Bundt was member of the Expert Commission on Norwegian Security and Defence Policy appointed by the Minister of Defence. From 2010-2012 Bundt was a member of the EEA Review Committee appointed by the Government to review Norway’s relations and agreements with the EU. From 2007-2009 she was a member of the Government’s Committee for Security Policy, Disarmament, and International Challenges to Norwegian Security. She has been Chair of the board at NUPI since May 2014 and vice-president of the Atlantic Treaty Association since December 2014. Bundt is also a member of the Advisory Council at Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) Stuart Center, and board member of NOREF (​Norwegian Centre for Conflict Resolution). 

Her core competencies cover international relations and diplomacy; particularly European integration, German politics and transatlantic relations. She has written a number of articles and is frequently invited by the media to comment on developments in Germany, NATO, and the EU.
