We condemn in the strongest possible terms Russia's horrifying attack on Ukraine.

The Norwegian Atlantic Committee condemns the Russian Federation’s invasion of Ukraine, and the involvement of Belarus in this aggression, in the strongest possible terms. The Russian authorities accompanied by Belarus bear the full responsibility for the current war and subsequent humanitarian crisis.

This long-planned brutal act of war is an attack on the principles of democracy, sovereignty, territorial integrity and is a grave violation of international law. The violation of such principles by the Russian Federation has shattered peace and security in Europe and will continue to dramatically impact the people of Ukraine.

We would like to express our strong solidarity with the brave people of Ukraine, who in a time of crisis has managed to stand united and resiliently fighting the oppressor. Their tireless efforts for self-determination and democracy are admirable.

The Norwegian Atlantic Committee and Norway stand together with its Allies and the United Nations in demanding that Russia immediately cease its military action and withdraw all its forces from in and around Ukraine, to fully respect international humanitarian law, and to allow safe and unhindered humanitarian access and assistance to all persons in need.

This war must come to an end.

Slava Ukraini!
