In 2024, Romania held local, European Parliament, and presidential elections within a short period of time. What do we know about the alleged foreign interference? What did the rise of "anti-system" movements mean for Romanian voters, and how did it influence the election outcomes? Finally, what do these new developments mean for the future of Romania and beyond?

To discuss these questions, we are joined by Mihai-Răzvan Ungureanu, a Romanian historian, university professor, and former Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Romania. He regularly teaches at several European universities and serves as Chairman of the Centre of Russian Studies at the University of Bucharest, which collaborates with the Fridtjof Nansen Institute on new security challenges in the Black Sea region. Arild Moe, research professor at Fridtjof Nansen Institute, will moderate the conversation.

Refreshments will be served.
