Course in International Politics

The Atlantic Committee organizes an annual course in international politics at various cities around the country.  The goal is to provide information on security, foreign, and defence policy to those interested in the subject matter, but are unable to attend our Oslo-based seminars and courses.

The courses are held in Oslo, Tromsø, Trondheim, Bergen, Stavanger, Bodø and Kristiansand.  In autumn 2005, the Committee arranged a course for journalist students at Volda University College.

The target group is teachers at the high-school level, staff and students at universities, colleges, political organizations and institutions, civil service, the media, and the military.

High-school teachers represent the largest group at these courses, and they always manage to bring new lessons into the classroom.  The courses are intended as a supplement to the standard curriculum, with which these teachers most regularly deal.  Regardless of the target group, these courses represent a useful update of current issues in security, foreign, and defence policy.

The number of participants varies from course to course, with the largest interest and turn out occurring in Oslo, Bergen and Trondheim, where we often have as many as 150 participants.  In Tromsø and Stavanger, the courses usually attract about 100 participants.
